TEA PARTY

My parents and sister visited for the weekend so I thought I would do a mini tea party as an alternative to a Sunday roast. A selection  of sandwiches, crisps and scones with jam and cream, along with endless cups of tea create the perfect weekend treat. 

       

                                                          

WEEKEND EATS

From my previous posts you can see that My boyfriend and I both like to take the time to go out and spend time together. Although we live together, we make sure we plan to do something that we both enjoy at one point in the week or weekend. I think it keeps things sweet :) and any excuse for a date night eh?

La Tasca

We shared some bread and olives, had a lovely paella and then Churros for dessert. Of course I topped it all off with a glass of Sangria, along with the fact I was sat right by the outside heater I might as well have been in sunny Spain...

Luke and I popped to London as I had reserved a table for him at the OXO Tower on South Bank for his Christmas present. We had a scrummy 3 course meal including a gin cocktail, grape and Stilton salad, sausage and lentils with kale and a milk chocolate tart with peanut butter ice cream for desert. Amazing! We were fit to burst after and had a little stroll before heading home.

RECENT FAVOURITES

                            

So I thought I would share some recent purchases that have zoomed straight to the top of my favourites list.

                            

 1. Bioderma sebium H20 purifying cleansing micelle solution

I decided to purchase a smaller bottle of the Bioderma cleansing water to test as it is aimed for oily skin. As I have the slickest skin, I liked the fact that it claims to reduce oil. I'm not so sure if this is the case but after a long day at work this feels so cooling on my face and removes all makeup and grime before washing. 

 2. Too Faced la creme lipstick in Coral Fire

Moisturising, smooth, coral-red with a sheen. I've really been enjoying wearing this lippy as not only is it a shade of red I hadn't owned before but it makes my lips feel super soft!

                        

3.Christian Dior creme de rose smoothing plumping lip balm

I was fortunate enough to receive this as a present for Christmas as I struggled with parting ways with the best part of 20  pounds for a lip balm. (Eek!) However, this feels so luxurious and moisturising, plus the light rose scent is beautiful I'm so glad Father Christmas treated me! Plus how could you resist the white retro packaging...cute!

4. Turquoise and gold bee earrings Forever 21 

Once again, how could I resist? Am so in love with these cute-as-a-button earrings and will try and add them to as many outfits as I can in weeks to come. Adorable no?

                                    

5. Eau thermale avene creme skin recovery cream

After washing my face in the evening and before going to bed I have been using the skin recovery cream. I decided to try it as I use a lot of products for my oily/sensitive skin that can be drying and irritating. I thought it would be thick and greasy but I was pleasantly surprised and although thicker than my day cream it feels moisturising but quickly absorbs-perfect! I can go to bed and wake up with my skin feeling calmer and plumper. I feel a re-purchase will be happening...

DRUGSTORE COLOUR COMBO

Recently there have been two colours dominating my makeup bag. Plum and rose gold. The Christmas colour combo has carried its way into the New Year and I'm slightly obsessed!...I might aswell cram as much wear in before Spring comes along in all it's pastel glory!

The two Barry M Lip products are highly pigmented and after a night out even after taking my makeup off, stain my lips a flush of pink. Party pink is my favourite as it's glittery but not bitty and very girly.

I am in LOVE with the sleek blush it's super shimmery and adds a gorgeous glow. I like to blend it with my blusher in the day and wear it alone at night. The colour is spot on and rose gold describes it perfectly. The MUA quad is great as a highlighter and mixed together really brightens up the face although I feel it's nowhere near as pigmented which you would expect from the price.

                                              

Both of these nail varnishes have made a home in my most worn list for winter, especially the Maxfactor Midnight Bronze which I have enjoyed wearing on my ring finger together with a pick of one of my nude nail varnishes on the rest of my nails. 

One final quick mention for the spellbinding shower creme, of course the rich plum colour stood out but I thought the packaging was so cute and magical and of course smells lovely!  It made a welcome change from the fruity scents I normally opt for.

DATE NIGHT

After a busy week it's nice to have something to look forward to. My boyfriend Luke and I went to the cinema tonight to see The secret life of Walter Mitty. 

It was a real 'feel good' film and although it started off a bit random, and was fairly predictable I ended up really enjoying it. So if you fancy an end of week easy watch grab your Pick 'n' mix and head to the pictures!

It has been over a week since New Year and I made a promise to myself that I would do something in  2014 that both excites and challenges me. So here is the outcome...a blog! A place to share and document everyday interests and thoughts on beauty, style and life in general.

Things to make you smile.

Sometimes I realise life is going so fast that I miss enjoying and appreciating even the small things. Life is so hectic at times (especially when your a general worrier...I must confess) that I miss the things that make me happy. Therefore in some ways I dedicate this blog to everything I enjoy and want to remember in this funny world we live in.
